This painting just sings to me because of the beauty of the light shining on the peonies' petals and the mystery of the leaves disappearing into the shadows. The challenge of Cluster of Peonies was to capture the light and shadow. There are times when magic happens while painting, as it did with Cluster, when the brushes and paint just flow, and the painting feels as if it painted itself! —Arleta Pech
